Sticking with it.
Today, we continue the topic about sustaining a meditation practice over time.
The research is in.
If you want the benefits of meditation, you have to make it a regular part of your life.
To use an analogy from sports, if you want stronger muscles, doing ten pushups is a great way to start. But you can鈥檛 just stop there and think you are done! If you continue to do your ten pushups regularly over time, you will get the strength you are looking for.
Without an infrastructure, most folks drop wellness techniques immediately.
Free classes are great!
Using an app is great!
And then what?
A single meditation class or a single meditation audio from an app is the equivalent of doing a single pushup. It鈥檚 a nice way to start.
So, that鈥檚 why these Sunday emails go out each week, and why Mindful Boston has a studio planner for us to follow together.
There are many reasons to have a mindfulness practice. There鈥檚 plenty of medical research studies that have shown amazing results from practice.
But you don鈥檛 get to receive the same benefits as the study participants got, if you don鈥檛 do the practices that they did during those studies!
Thinking about doing a practice is different from doing a practice.
I hope to see you at our upcoming events. There are in-person and online options this fall.
Kind regards,
