Mindful Gatherings
This photo shows a group of folks who gathered for 10 minutes of silent practice together at the Harvard Art Museum on Dec 13th 2:50pm. On the computer screen are another 15 or so people who joined in the experience via zoom call. If you want invites to this type of event, visit their website at https://at250.org/
It’s a powerful experience to be together in a public space and yet not engaging in noisy behaviors. If you join the At 2:50 group, you’ll hear them talk about the idea of normalizing silence.
Also, if you missed last week’s Free Guest Pass email, it included this list of ways to support your friends in meditation this December:
When you are scrolling websites together, visit the mindfulness radio station site and hit the play button. See what’s playing.Grab your phone, and play a guided meditation on the app. Use your speaker, or share earbuds.Go for a walk together.Set a timer for 10 minutes, and sit in companionable silence together. (Perhaps with the At250 group.) This is great at the end of a walk.Gift them a subscription to the Mindful Beacon newsletter. (Just sayin.’) Or, for an extravagant gift, take them to the beach for one of the MBZ1 Retreat Weekends.
And clearly, if you are engaging in these activities with someone else, that means that you have figured out how to get yourself to do them too!
