Seeds of mindfulness

I don’t prefer new year’s resolutions.

Yet, the “new year new you” idea is one of the reasons people seek out what the Mindful Boston studio offers. During a past December newsletter, I mentioned that resolutions are a huge part of the Mindful Boston studio business plan.

It puts me in an awkward position where, as I am indebted to the “new year new you” concept for membership enrollment, I am also somewhat against it.

Since many people have already felt a sense of failure at losing their resolutions by February, my opinion is that the January push is a set up.

The studio plan here at Mindful Boston allows for ebb and flow within a regular practice. An ebb in February can become a flow during March- if your mind state can allow for that. And that form of support, for mind state expansion, is what our studio offers.

Luckily, as a contemplative artist, I am well-practiced at holding, even juggling, conflicting ideas as I walk labyrinthian paths towards and away from non-goals.

Today at 3pm, is our First Sunday webinar.

I will be reading one quote from the book Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, and then leading a meditation based upon that quote. “A heron flew over the bamboo wood and Siddhartha took the heron into his soul…”

I hope you can join us!
This link goes live at 2:50pm for 10 minutes of silent time with music, and then the guided classroom is from 3pm to 3:30.

Chinese Lunar New Year is next Saturday, February 10th. I’d love to hear about your felt-sense of February as a time to mark a new fresh start.

Take care,
