When to retreat

Sometimes a vacation is not enough
When to retreat

Sure, there are vacations.
A vacation can be a way to distance yourself from your stressors.

Then, there are also organizational “retreats” where decision makers get together to discuss issues. Some business retreats even offer open bars and exotic locations.

And then…, within the world of mindfulness there is a very different thing:a silent mindfulness retreat.

And then within the world of mindfulness there is a very different thing:
a silent mindfulness retreat.

Mindfulness retreat facilities create a proper boundary for participants to have dedicated meditation time away from home. But this is not an escape, it is no get-away, and it is sober. A mindfulness retreat is time and space to be alone with what’s really happening inside yourself.

It’s the best way I know to clear one’s head.

A partner organization called Calmer Choice sent me an invitation. They are hosting a winter mindfulness retreat on Cape Cod. The participants will be high school teachers and parents from the high schools they serve. This retreat weekend is geared towards adult beginners who have not done an extended period of silence before.

Their director has extended the invitation to our Mindful Boston community. And I’d love to bring a crew down to the Craigville retreat center to join them!
