The Studio Planner can be a life-line to practice

This is the week that we listen to a meditation audio. Or maybe not?
The Studio Planner can be a life-line to practice

Hello folks,

A story

During covid lockdown, I spent a lot of time wracking my brain. In order to keep the meditation studio alive, I needed a way for participants to have a sense of being together even when we were kept apart.

For ten years, we had met in person. Now what?

A process

My brainstorms brought me to re-think how I view conversations and how I use calendars. Let me know if you want more details about how I arrived at the Studio Planner. But for now, let’s just say that I flipped all my thought processes upside down in order to create a new infrastructure that makes Mindful Boston more virtual, yet retains core practices.

A new prescription
  • The studio now prescribes a short practice for each week.
  • This weekly practice follows a standardized cycle for the 4 to 5 weeks that happen in any month.
  • At the end of the month, we start over at the beginning of the monthly cycle.
How to follow along
  • The “Sunday News” edition of the studio newsletter goes out every Sunday at around 2:15pm. (This email is one of those editions!)
  • Links, and relevant info for this week’s practice are delivered to you.
  • Follow along with the links if you can.
  • Knowing that other participants in the studio are also attempting this, succeeding at times, failing at times, and then starting again… it’s a big help.
  • If you fall off the practice. Start again next time. You can even start again right now, in fact.
This is Week 3 of our May practice cycle.

The full Studio Planner goes like this: Week 1 Participate, Week 2 Watch, Week 3 Listen, Week 4 Check In, Week 5 Play.

So, it’s time to listen.

Use this audio recording once, or more than once, at some point during this week.
And then next week, I’ll send out a prompt for you to check in about your experiences.

Thanks for participating when you can. It keeps the practice alive and lively.

Kind regards,

Gena Bean
